PlasticsEurope Deutschland e.V. is the association representing plastics producers in Germany. The organization is a sector association within the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and part of the European Plastics Europe network, with representation in Brussels and across Europe’s major economic centers and capitals.

Together with its member companies — which produce more than 90 percent of the plastics in Europe — the association is a key stakeholder in the plastics industry. It assumes responsibility for working openly and closely with a wide range of stakeholders to develop safe, circular, and resource-efficient products.

The association actively advocates for a sustainable circular plastics economy. This means ensuring that plastics are consistently collected, sorted, and recycled at the end of their service life.

Currently, particularly in Germany, the competitiveness of plastics manufacturers is under significant pressure, due among other factors to prolonged macroeconomic weakness, high energy costs, and substantial regulatory burdens. The association therefore calls for effective policy measures to strengthen the international competitiveness of the German plastics industry and to restore the economic strength needed to drive transformation.
