VAROLI – Rethinking Recycling
Every day, almost five million items of plastic that have only been used once are disposed of in German laboratories and often incinerated in an environmentally harmful manner. This particularly affects materials such as polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (HDPE).
These materials are up to 100% recyclable.
The production and incineration of one tonne of plastic produces up to five tonnes of CO2.
An enormous contribution to environmental pollution.
The majority of laboratories do not recycle their disposable plastic, but have it incinerated at a cost and to the detriment of the environment.
Many recycling companies are looking for high-quality plastic waste, especially single-origin material.
So far, there is hardly any connection or exchange between laboratories and the recycling industry
regarding sustainable recycling of this particular waste.
The VAROLI solution:
Varoli created a digital platform that matches S1 laboratories and recycling companies.
Step 1 – Laboratories can register on Varoli, after which they are matched with a suitable recycler in the area.
Step 2 – The recycler collects the plastic waste from the laboratory at regular intervals.
Step 3 – The recycler weighs the collected amount and transfers a credit to them.
They donate up to 20% of the profit, minus their costs.
