Unveiling Innovation Potential of Circular Approaches in Automotive Electronics and Beyond

Join us at the upcoming expo to explore the UNICORN project, an EU-funded research initiative supporting the automotive electronics industry in its transition towards a greener and more circular future. Focusing on investigating circular innovations in materials, processes, and design, UNICORN aims to enhance the circularity-driven integration of electronics in automotive applications. Additionally, the project provides methodologies, guidelines, and recommendations for the entire community, addressing broader sectors.

The project features five cutting-edge use cases:

  1. Lightweight, Thermoplastic Battery Casing: Integrated thermal and stress management to maximize battery performance, safety, and reusability.
  2. Bio-based, Eco-friendly Automotive Dashboards: Enhancing sustainability and functionalities through innovative in-mould electronics (IME) solutions.
  3. IMSE-enabled Car Door Panel: Interconnected with a mat of sensors in the seat, improving safety functionalities while exploring dismantling options to enhance recyclability.
  4. Sustainable RFID and Sensor Platform: Integrated into the tyre, designed for reducing environmental impact during use and extending product lifetime.
  5. Impact of Mobility-as-a-Service on Automotive Electronics: Leveraging synergies between technological advances and business models to accelerate the adoption of circularity approaches in automotive electronics
