Manfred Renner, head of the Fraunhofer UMSICHT Institute, CVC’s scientific partner and Platinum Exhibitor. Also present were the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, a CVC Start-Up Partner that actively supports innovation by providing exhibition space for start-ups, represented by Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, and the visionary artist behind CVC’s key visual that combines creativity and sustainability to inspire a circular economy, HA Schult.

Messe Düsseldorf and Wolfram N. Diener presented the Circular Valley Convention 2025 (CVC) at the Circular Valley Forum 2024. Wolfram N. Diener answered some questions asked from Dr. Carsten Gerhardt.

In response to the question, why the Circular Valley Convention (CVC) is necessary, Wolfram Diener said:

“The CVC represents the shift toward a Circular Economy, just as other Messe Düsseldorf events like K, interpack, drupa, glasstec, and the ‘Bright World of Metals’ have done in their respective fields. Its goal is to bring together stakeholders from business, science, politics, and society. In addition to a high-profile conference that serves as a content hub for the Circular Economy, the event will include an integrated expo as a marketplace for circular solutions.”

Wolfram Diener replied when asked why the event will be held in Düsseldorf:

“Düsseldorf lies at the heart of Circular Valley and at the center of the economically strong Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region. With its high density of relevant industries and innovation leaders, it is the ideal starting point for the transition to a Circular Economy. Our international network, including industries such as plastics, packaging, printing, and construction, is increasingly moving toward more sustainable and circular operations. As a trade fair organizer, we see a strong demand for practical, circular solutions, and we aim to create the right platform to meet this need.”

On the question of how to get involved, Wolfram Diener makes it clear that everyone who wants to make a difference is welcome:

„We warmly invite everyone dedicated to making our economy more sustainable and circular to participate. Our aim is to connect the first movers of the Circular Economy with fast followers, fostering exchange and collaboration. Those implementing and offering solutions for the Circular Economy now have a stage and marketplace to showcase their innovations to the world!”
